Since 2018, thousands now gather downtown for Glocktoberfest, an annual celebration of the Glockner families multigenerational family business vision and their dedication to the developing community.
The B. Glockner Hardware Building, which Bernhard Glockner started the family business with in the mid 1800’s, was lost during the Great Depression to save the Families remaining assets, and was just recently reclaimed by Glockner Enterprises in 2018.
It was with this full-circle victory the Glockner’s began inviting the community to celebrate the past, present, and future of our community’s resilient small business culture. We’ve even created our own beer, The Bernie G Dortmunder Lager, brewed at The Portsmouth Brewing Company to propose the perfect toasts to the local legends who paved the way for our city.
