Bernhard dies and Magdalena assumes management of the hardware store along with her sons Alex M., Adolph, and Frank.

Magdalena dies and her sons Alex M. and Adolph assume management of the hardware store. They add a line of horse-drawn buggies, sold to them by W.C. Durant, who later founded General Motors Corp.

Alex M. acquires a farm tractor line

Alex M. acquires a farm tractor line and realizes the need for expansion. He rents the Heinisch Building on Gallia and Gay Streets and moves the hardware store to that location.

Alex M. obtains a franchise with Chevrolet

Alex M. obtains a franchise with Chevrolet. It was necessary to contract for a specific amount of cars per year, and a $50 per car“earnest” money had to be deposited in advance with Chevrolet.

Ebby forms Quality Car and Truck Leasing Corporation, leasing vehicles, fork lifts, industrial equipment and investing in real estate.

Ebby forms Multi Channel Cable Co. and in Portsmouth builds the largest CATV system with more subscribers built in less time than had ever been done before.

Originally named Glockner Supply, Glockner Oil Company began as a sub distributor for Quaker State Oil.

The Glockner Plaza

The Glockner Plaza adds the heavy truck franchises of Chevrolet, International, and Fruehauf along with diesel engines by Mack, Cummins, and Detroit.

Andy Establishes Rosemount City Insurance Agency

Andy establishes Rosemount City Insurance Agency in 1974, which became known as Glockner Insurance in 2014.

Ebby purchases Portsmouth Volkswagon-Porsche-Audi-Honda-Toyota

Ebby purchases Portsmouth Volkswagon-Porsche-Audi-Honda-Toyota and sells the franchise and stock interest to his 22 year old son, Andy.

Ebby Retires

Ebby Retires in 1982 and turns over the enterprise to Andy who continued to grow the family business and develop its people and culture.

Glockner Auto Credit

Andy began Glockner Auto Credit in order to help good people facing bad situations reestablish their credit while driving a nicer, newer car. Always a forward thinker, the Glockner Auto Credit slogan reads “We finance your future, not your past.

The Glockner Family adds the Ford Brand to their already impressive line up when they acquired South Point Ford.

Glockner Ironton

The sixth generation of Glockner active in the business, Tim, Joe, and Mike are poised for the future to grow the enterprise. Starting with our expansion into the Greater Ironton Area. Glockner of Ironton was acquired in August of 2015.

Glockner of ashland

The Glockner family added yet another dealership to their repertoire: Glockner of Ashland, Kentucky. Glockner of Ashland represents the Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and RAM brands.

Purchase of Original Hardware Store

Purchase of original hardware store building, break ground on new museum.
